Those of us who have been unfortunate enough to suffer from long term acne problems often find that even after the worst of our acne is over, the damage that has been left behind on our skin leaves our complexion telling the story of our previous struggle to everyone we meet.

The scarring that is sometimes left behind can make our skin look unattractive, which can have a negative effect on our self confidence in social situations, and our ability to attract the partners we desire. It’s understandable that we want to put this problem behind us once and for all, and regain an attractive complexion.

After my long battle with acne, this was a problem that I couldn’t tolerate living with. I wanted this episode of my life to be over, without being reminded of it every time i looked in the mirror. So I started looking for a solution. I tried a scar removal cream, but it didn’t appear to have the effects that i wanted. Then I chanced upon the method that I’m about to outline for you.

There are many scar removal products available on the market, and from what I can tell from my own experience, and from my research online, most of them are unlikely to give you the results you desire. They make big claims, and there are many sites that are promoting them online that will tell you that if you use them your acne scars will quickly be gone, but they are just after your money, and for most people the results are disappointing.

The following method has worked excellently for me. Not only have I succeeded in completely removing the scarring from my skin, but it has also improved the complexion of my entire facial area, as I used it on all of my facial skin, not just the areas that were scarred. It has given me the sort of skin that I never thought I would have again. This method has proved to me that it can be an answer to how to remove acne scars, when consistent action is taken, and not only can it get rid of your scars, but it can give you beautiful looking skin as well.

This method also works on other scars elsewhere on the body, but the worse the scarring the longer you have to be disciplined in applying these methods to get the results you desire. I have some scars on my arm from a cycling accident when I was younger and this method has significantly reduced them over a number of years of doing it off and on, but has yet to remove them completely. They were quite prominent scars though compared to the type you typically get from acne, and my acne scars cleared up a lot quicker.

There are a number of stages to this method, and it required the purchase of a few products in order to make this method work, but all of the products I mention here helped me. I’m not in the habit of singing the praises of the latest expensive miracle cream that claims to solve your problem fast, but doesn’t actually work. I’ve had enough bad experiences with those sorts of products. The products I mention here work together in a clear plan of action that makes sense.

In order to remove the scars from my skin and improve my complexion I used a process called skin remodeling. Scars are formed from collagen that your body deposits into a wounded area to quickly plug the gap and prevent infection and blood loss.

The idea is that I was gradually removing the damaged areas of skin and the collagen build up and activating my skin’s healing system to assist with this removal and replace it with healthy, normal skin again. The process that I am about to outline here helps to speed up the rate at which the skin successfully remodels the damaged areas.

To make this process as efficient as it can be, I needed to use carefully controlled skin damage techniques, like hydroxy acids, microdermabrasion, and needling, combined with copper peptides which help to activate the skin’s repair mechanisms and result in skin remodeling.

How To Remove Acne Scars From Your Face – The Method

Stage 1 – In order to help break up the scar tissue so that the following stages are more effective there are a few different approaches that I tried. For elevated or surface scars I tried using both a dermaroller and microdermabrasion cream (I preferred this). These worked well. Depressed or pitted scars may well take a lot longer to respond to this whole treatment method, but it is worth trying to see what rate of improvement you get. Persistent depressed or pitted scars may require needling to speed up the process. A dermaroller may assist with that.

I also tried using a microdermabrasion cloth for surface scars, but I don’t like it as much as it is harder to get an even level of skin abrasion, and if you press too hard with the cloth it can leave unsightly burns on your face. This is very easy to do with a cloth as I have found out on a few occasions! The cream doesn’t do this and exfoliates the top layers and helps to break up the surface of the scars while leaving the skin looking fine. The cloths can also cause hyper-pigmentation of areas that you use it on, which the cream doesn’t do. The cloths are the cheapest option, but not the best in my opinion.

Doing microdermabrasion across the whole face helps to remove dead skin cells, encouraging new skin growth, and the sort of collagen production that helps to gives you tight, firm, healthy looking skin (different from the sort of collagen deposits that show up as scarring).

I liked to do this a couple of times a week, spaced either side of using the hydroxy acid, but I think that everyone who uses skin abrasion techniques has to let their own skin be the guide for them as to how often feels right. If two times feels like too much (it sometimes did for me) then just doing it once a week, a few days after using the hydroxy acid, is fine.

If someone is reading this and thinking of trying a similar method, but doesn’t like the idea of using hydroxy acids, then i think that focusing on this stage and ignoring stage 2 could work to remove your scars, but it will probably take longer, and it isn’t the way that I did it so I can’t offer any more advice on how effective it would be doing it this way, unfortunately.

Stage 2 – This involved the use of a mild hydroxy acid peel performed on a regular basis over the period of time required to produce the improvement in my skin that I wanted.

Deep chemical peels are often recommended by dermatologists for scarring, but this brings with it the increased risk of further scarring if the dermatologist is not highly skilled. This is why it is best to take a more gradual, long term approach to this, with weaker acids that won’t cause any danger of scarring, in my opinion.

Home use chemical peels are fairly common nowadays, are easy to use, take little time, and are perfectly safe when used correctly. I started with a relatively weak hydroxy acid and then, to speed up results after I had been using it for a while, I increased the strength of the acid used.

I used this once a week. This helped to slowly loosen and dissolve the scars. When using chemical peels you always have to remember to follow the instructions carefully that come with the product. In my experience it is best to take it slow with this sort of product. To begin with I just left it on my face for very short amounts of time while my skin got used to it.

I used a brush (also available on amazon) to apply it to my face. My research online suggested that salicylic acid was the best type to use, which is what I did, but other hydroxy acids do a similar job.

Another way of doing it is to use a very weak hydroxy acid, like a 2% salicylic acid, and then use it every day. Put it on in the morning, and then use the copper peptides in the evening. I tried this approach to begin with, but had better results by using the 20% salicylic acid once per week.

Stage 3 – Apply skin remodelling copper peptides. I used the copper peptides to help remodel the skin because they really do work, as supported by scientific research.

Each day I applied the copper peptides to my skin. Some people like to do this in the morning. I liked to do it in the evening when I was just sat at home. Some people like to do it both morning and evening. The choice is down to the individual.

What these do is stimulate the skin’s natural repair mechanisms, which speeds up the rate at which the skin tissue is repaired. They also activate the systems that help to remove scars from the skin. In addition they cause the skin to increase the formation of blood capillaries, which improves blood circulation in the skin, resulting in better skin tone.

So the basic summary of the method goes like this: Twice a week I used the microdermabrasion cream, or dermaroller, two or three days before and after I did my weekly hydroxy acid peel. Every day I applied the copper peptides. I used sunscreen each day and took the supplements.

This is the routine that worked for me. Of course, other people vary this routine and achieve success.

After about a month or so of using this method I started to notice signs of improvement, but it takes several months for impressive results to occur. The worse the skin is, the longer it is going to take, but the important thing was to keep taking consistent action and by doing that I saw a gradual improvement.

This method is a relatively slow acting one, but it is also relatively inexpensive compared to some of the treatment options for acne scarring, it didn’t cause any further damage to my skin because of the gradual long term approach that was being taken, and in my experience it does work. It relies on the hydroxy acids and microdermabrasion to slowly break up and dissolve the scars, while the copper peptides encourage the skin to repair itself like new.

Things to be aware of:

Having put this information out there about the method I followed to get rid of my acne scars, I think it’s important for me to highlight some things to be aware of, as I know some people might be thinking of trying this method or a similar one. Remember that this is your face, and you probably still have to go out and face the world, so go easy with this to begin with, and embrace the fact that it is a solution that is going to take a bit of time and patience.

The sort of hydroxy acid peels that I am talking about in this article can cause minor burns if you leave them on too long, so only leave them on for a short time to begin with and build up as your skin starts to tolerate it. Follow the instructions that come with the acid carefully. The minor burns caused by low strength acids don’t cause permanent damage to your skin in my experience (i’ve burnt myself quite a few times and it’s always cleared up fine), but it’s not nice having to walk around outside and speak to people with burn marks on your face, so take it easy.

My skin started to peel two to three days after I used the hydroxy acid, and the microdermabrasion cream was excellent at this point for removing all the dead skin from the surface. Dermarollers won’t help you with this, so even if you decide to get a dermaroller to help with needling of the scars, i still recommend getting some microdermabrasion cream as well.

I recommend clearing your acne problem first before attempting to get rid of your acne scars and improve your complexion. I also don’t recommend this method for under 18′s, for two reasons: Using hydroxy acids should only be considered by adults, because they require responsibility to use safely, and under 18′s have often not completely got rid of their acne problem.
